PLEASE NOTE: This web page is part of a model horse hobby web site. The Starhold Farm racing program, as well as all horses & activities associated with it, are for entertainment purposes only and are not associated with live horse racing. Starhold Farm-owned horses referred to in these pages are NOT real; they are model horses or paper identities only. Any real horses discussed in these pages are listed for pedigree research purposes only and are designated with "-r" or ®. Pedigree assignment and the simulated racing hobby promote the research and understanding of equine bloodlines, horse racing, and equestrian performance disciplines.

Pedigree Assignment Guidelines
All breeding requests must be approved in writing by me; no exceptions. Please do not use any Starhold horses as parents for your models until you have received written confirmation from me that the breeding is approved. Breeding stock (ID only) foals as well as models, and IDs for simulated show and race foals are welcome. I do request that you send regular updates on the foal's show, race, or breeding career at least once a year, more often if you can. This helps me keep the records up-to-date on my own horses, as well as providing further information for anyone else who might like to use my horses as parents.
Please do not request more than TWO breedings at one time. I get a lot of requests and it takes time to process them. You can send any additional requests AFTER you receive your first 2 pedigrees. Please be patient in waiting to get your pedigrees. I get a LOT of requests, and I work on them as fast as I can. Unfortunately, I also have to work 8-5 every day so I can't work on my model hobby as much as I would like. My family also deserves SOME of my time. :-) If you haven't heard back in a while, send me a gentle reminder. :-) Be sure and include ALL the information again when writing the second time, just in case the original request has been misplaced or eaten by the computer.
Breeding Rules
All foals must conform to color genetics rules, and their foaling dates must match both the foal crops of the stallion and the open years of the mares. My mares are allowed to have only one foal per year, so please ask to make sure that the foaling date you want is still available. It is a good idea to send 3 choices of foaling dates when applying. The names of the foals must be in accordance with breed naming rules as to length of name, etc.
For foals, I need to have the Name, Date Foaled, Breed, Description including model, and Your Name and Address. If you are using a non-Starhold parent for either the sire or dam, then I need the following information on that parent: Name, Date Foaled, Breed, Description including model, the outside horses Parents & Grandparents, and the Name and Address of the owner of the outside parent.
Please note: I do NOT send out fancy pedigree certificates. I just send you copies of the pedigree and information for the parent you chose that is owned by Starhold. (I am prone to tendonitis in my wrists and elbows, so I avoid doing too much extra typing.) Email correspondence is preferred, but if you need to have the information mailed to you, I can send it for an LSASE and 25¢ per foal. Please e-mail me for my mailing address if you need to have the pedigree information mailed to you.
Color Genetics Rules
I do try to follow genetic rules for determining a foal's color. If you are not familiar with what colors may be produced by certain parents, please click here for the Color Genetics Information Page. This information is very basic (I am NOT a geneticist!), but it can help you determine what colors a foal might be, depending on the colors of its parents. This information was complied by Heather Rauschenberger and Lesli Kathman. This is by no means the end-all on color genetics, just a chart put together to help you determine foal colors. If all else fails, a safe way to pick out a parent with the right color is to make sure that the foal is the same base color and has similar markings as one of the parents.
